5 Fresh Oyster Toppings for Summer

5 Fresh Oyster Toppings for Summer

Delicious. Refreshing. Easy to make. This summer, make sure oysters on the half-shell are on the list for every one of your barbecues. We rounded up some of the best ways to add a fresh topping to your White Stones for your next summer cookout or gathering. Check out the recipes below and make sure to tag us on Instagram or Facebook if you try one!

Raw Oysters with Sweet Pear Mignonette

Mignonettes are classic toppers for fresh oysters- in part because there are so many variations available to try. This delicious topping pairs the crisp brightness of sweet pears with the buttery umami of oysters to create a flavor explosion in your mouth.

Oysters with Chopped Bacon and Jalapeno

As if we needed another way to enjoy bacon… Topping oysters with jalapeno and fatty bits of bacon creates a savory, spicy, and all-too-delicious flavor combo. The umami of the oysters and their buttery flavor is offset by the spice of the jalapeno and the salt of the bacon. Bacon and jalapeno are a classic pairing and a tasty oyster is an excellent vessel to carry them straight to your mouth.

Chimichurri Sauce

If you want to bring a little Tex-Mex style to your oysters, a mild chimichurri may be just the ticket. This herb sauce is typically served with steak, but it works equally as well on oysters that are fresh on the half-shell or grilled.

Sriracha and Lemon

Bright, spicy, and zesty- give your oysters some zing with this sauce combo. Mix equal parts lemon juice and Sriracha, then top oysters that have been lightly grilled or freshly shucked. Pair with your favorite lager for the best results.

Raw Oysters with Horseradish and Lime Granita

Sweet, tart, and chilled. The combination of flavors in this Italian classic is sure to impress. The icy zest of the granita will really make your oysters pop on a warm spring day and keep your guests coming back for more.

Love all of these ideas? Try setting up a serve-yourself oyster bar. Lay out a spread of freshly shucked White Stone Oysters on a bed of crushed ice, and allow your guests to explore the different fresh toppings on their own.
